Spinning Tops

Life as we see it is about a journey of a very whirlwind kind where every step is a reveletion in emotional and mental tumoil. Every step is a learning process, a juxtaposition of our faiths and beliefs, our prejudices; the very learning curve is as such an unpredictable pathway. We see, we follow, we reject, we accept according to what has been filtered in the subconscious and conscious self. A tinted glass measures the amount of light we let in. More often than not, we have led the life given to us not just physically, but on a more undefined, inner way by someone else;just that many of us are never aware of the same. We are simple emoticons created and modified by a developer/s(no not the surreal one, never!). Come to think of it, saying something that was taught to you, or you read somewhere, or seen someone doing, comes as the most natural thing to do;unquestionable. Whereas the most important part of life that is the best thing ever to your very existence, your very own voice, is unheard, unheeded at all times. Imagine a top, set to spin in an indoor stadium. And let us also presume that it spins in a remote part of the stadium. It would go on spinning for the period of its spin cycle without any confrontation, unware, ignorant, but happy in its lonesome spining life. Now lets fill the stadium with billions of spinning tops in different time gaps. There would be innumerable number of combinations and spin routes in such a scenario.A set of tops would always be around each other, circling themselves, complimenting each other. Another set, only a couple stay close all along. Some bounce off each other and meet a different set every time. A lot of them will not be able to sustain the spin in frequent collisions and fall off-balanced. So are some who would spin till the last, eventually winning a virtual spin compitition. What's spinning tops got to do with us?They are very much like us;set to spin by someone else, our makers, the ones we follow, we emulate. The lone spinner in the beginning was the one who didn't get affected by circumstances. It spun oblivious to its counterparts, the rule breaker. The couple were the so called soulmates who always find their world within themselves irrespective of the conditions. The group we saw was a close circle of friends, indulgent in themselves but fiercely opposed to outsiders or intruders. They only compliment each other, rest to them are non entities. The ones which collided were the toms and jerries of this world. We always see such characters around us, beating or getting beaten. The fallen tops are the ones who suffered because of unrelenting pressure, their incapabilities, and their lack of adaptibility. The ones which met a different group every time were the social climbers, the opportunists, palm greasers out to make a gaudy mark on every occasion that suits them. All of us have this streak, whether we like it or not.Tops which finished last were the go getters, the high positioned achievers who like to beat every body including their own family. The stadium itself is called indoor because of the closed, suffocating nature of human society. The vast world outside it is almost out of bounds as the we are all; busy seeing what is shown, blind to the surroundings and possibilities. Some would disagree saying, no i charted my own path. i tell them to take a closer look, the path they chose was not different, only it was not the one they themselves thought they would take. i ask them, can you also say the same about the dependents that you have, or may have? Will you allow them to chart their own path or pave their way all along. The top which spun alone had no attachment or detachment when it came to an end of its cycle, it was set to spin by someone but it neither followed the hands to live, nor depended on the others course to decide its own. It was the mercurial emperor with no likes and dislikes. No friends, no enemies.A one in a billion billion prodigy.
